March 28th, 2007 Antelope Flat Tornado

This series of images was taken between 18:43 CDT and 19:15 CDT southwest of Brice Texas. The tornado passed just to the west of the small community of Antelope Flat after developing in the Caprock Canyons State Park area. The tornado, which was on the ground for more than thirty minutes, displayed a range of spectacular colors under rather unique lightning conditions as it ground it's way through the Palo Duro Canyon and then up the north wall before becoming a large barrel shape. At times, the funnel was striped with a "Zebra" pattern as partial sunlight shone down on the vortex from above.
